Beckman Coulter Life Sciences said on Monday that it has entered into an agreement with Invitae to develop applications for Beckman's new next-generation sequencing library preparation system.
Financial and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Invitae will develop applications designed for the Biomek NGenius Liquid Handling System, which will be available to users of the instrument via an electronic application library, Beckman said in a statement. The system is expected to launch in early 2022, the Danaher subsidiary added.
The liquid handler is built for NGS library prep and is intended to reduce manual transfers and hands-on time for library construction, Beckman said.
"Partnerships between Beckman Coulter Life Sciences and reagent manufacturers will accelerate the automation of NGS library prep kits, expanding the menu of the Biomek NGenuis liquid handler while harnessing our automation expertise and the library preparation portfolio of partners like Invitae," Jason Lanie, VP and general manager of the biotechnology business unit at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, said in a statement.
