On August 22, 2024, the China Association of In-Vitro Diagnostics (CAIVD) welcomed a delegation from the Korea In Vitro Diagnostics Association (KIVDA) for a strategic visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two nations’ IVD industries. The KIVDA delegation was led by Mr. Yongmin Huh, Director at KIVDA, accompanied by Mr. Seungmin Yu, KIVDA’s Executive Secretary, and Mr. Junsoo Shin, Manager at Boditech Med.
Prof. Haibo Song, Chairman of CAIVD, Director of IVD Industrial Development Institute, SAEM, Founder of CACLP, along with Ms. Karen Dai, Executive Deputy Secretary of CAIVD and General Manager of CACLP, extended a warm welcome to the Korean delegation. In his opening remarks, Prof. Song praised the strong cooperative relationship between CAIVD and KIVDA, reflecting on the productive discussions during the last meeting with Mr. Eui-Yul Choi. He emphasized the mutual benefits of their ongoing collaboration and the many innovative ideas that have emerged from their exchanges.
Mr. Huh expressed his commitment to deepening the partnership between China and Korea in the IVD sector. He noted that since Mr. Choi’s visit, KIVDA has been dedicated to fostering closer ties with CAIVD, aiming to create synergies that drive the development of the IVD industry on both sides. He highlighted that this meeting was not just a continuation of previous discussions but also an opportunity for both sides to learn from each other and explore new avenues for cooperation.
During the meeting, both parties provided insights into the current state of the IVD markets in China and Korea. Mr. Huh shared that Korea is home to over 400 local IVD manufacturers, including 32 publicly listed companies, with a total of 860 IVD enterprises when including imported brands. However, he noted that local companies account for only about 20% of the Korean market. The discussion also delved into the organizational structures, functions, and recent achievements of both associations, underscoring the importance of international collaboration in unlocking new business opportunities and fostering industry growth.
This meeting has set a strong foundation for future collaboration between the Chinese and Korean IVD industries. Both CAIVD and KIVDA are committed to strengthening ties in various areas to address global healthcare challenges together. Their partnership not only aims to enhance the international competitiveness of the IVD industries in both countries but also to inject fresh momentum into global innovation and development within the sector. Through close cooperation, CAIVD and KIVDA are poised to advance IVD technology and contribute to the broader progress of global healthcare.
