Seegene Medical Foundation has signed an agreement with the Central Asian Biotechnology Association (CABA) and Open Healthcare to expand cooperation in diagnostic testing and health screening in Kazakhstan.
The Korean diagnostic testing foundation said it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the two organizations during a visit by a delegation from the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan to its Seoul headquarters on Aug. 10.
Under the agreement, the organizations will work to strengthen health screening capabilities at Korean Medical Center Almaty (KMCA), operated by Open Healthcare, and support its designation as an official health screening center.
The partnership also covers diagnostic testing standardization and quality control, training of healthcare professionals and technology exchanges.
The Kazakh delegation included Alexey Tsoy, presidential adviser for social affairs; Kamalzhan Nadyrov, president of CABA; Darkhan Turlybekov, a consultant at the Socioeconomic Policy Department of the Presidential Administration; and Yergali Abduraimov, president of state-owned biotechnology and pharmaceutical company QazBioPharm.
During the visit, the delegation toured Seegene Medical Foundation's laboratory facilities and reviewed its testing operations and quality management systems. The two sides also discussed training programs for healthcare professionals in Kazakhstan.
Seegene Medical Foundation has been expanding its healthcare operations in Kazakhstan since 2023, when it discussed diagnostic testing cooperation with the Almaty city government and established Open Healthcare to pursue overseas healthcare projects.
In 2025, the Korean Medical Center in Almaty was expanded to about 7,130 square meters and equipped with a 3.0-tesla MRI, 256-channel CT scanner, automated laboratory systems and molecular diagnostic infrastructure.
The foundation said the parties plan to continue discussions at the second Open Healthcare Academy in Almaty on Nov. 7.
"We will actively share the diagnostic testing standards, quality management systems and professional training experience that Seegene Medical Foundation has accumulated over the past 36 years to strengthen KMCA's health screening capabilities and help enhance the expertise of healthcare professionals in Kazakhstan," Seegene Medical Foundation Chairman Chun Jong-kee said.
Chun said the foundation plans to expand cooperation in diagnostic testing standardization, workforce training and technology exchange.
