Roche and Beckman Coulter Win Bids for PUMCH Laboratory Automation Systems

Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) has awarded contracts to Roche and Beckman Coulter for two automated pre-analytical sample processing systems. Roche’s cobas p 612 system, priced at RMB 800,000, will handle sample identification, sorting, decapping, and recapping, while Beckman’s DxA 5000, at RMB 500,000, will manage transport, quality checks, and intelligent scheduling.
The Roche system comes with a 10-year warranty post-acceptance, and the Beckman unit with a 5-year warranty. The DxA 5000 will integrate with the hospital’s existing three AU5821 analyzers and three DxI800 immunoassay systems to create a seamless biochemical and immunological testing workflow.
As sample volumes surge at top-tier hospitals, PUMCH’s move reflects a broader shift toward full-process automation—reducing manual errors, ensuring specimen quality, and shortening turnaround times—to enhance overall laboratory efficiency. PUMCH’s lab, established in 1958, runs over 300 tests across 16 sub-laboratories with more than 80% of methodologies at internationally advanced levels.
Mindray Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Haikou Municipal Government

On July 29, Haikou Municipal Government and Mindray signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Haikou.
Under the agreement, both parties will jointly advance the construction of a global bonded maintenance center, a global training center, a high-end medical device production base, a digital and intelligent medical innovation system, and a regional testing center. These initiatives aim to support Haikou in building itself into a core cluster for the biomedical industry and an international high-end medical service innovation hub within the Hainan Free Trade Port.
This partnership marks another significant achievement in accelerating the development of the Guangdong-Hainan Advanced Manufacturing Industry Cooperation Park at Haikou National High-tech Zone and deepening industrial collaboration between Guangdong and Hainan provinces.
BioGerm & Labnovation Partner to Bring Free Diabetes Screening to Hong Kong Community

Shanghai BioGerm Medical Technology, through its chronic disease management brand Labnovation, joined forces with the Water Street District Care Team to host the "Healthy Living in Central & Western District" event at Sai Ying Pun Community Complex. Funded by the Home Affairs Department, the initiative provided free HbA1c testing for hundreds of elderly residents using the LD-100 analyzer.
Requiring just one drop of fingertip blood and delivering results in two minutes, the device offers a convenient alternative to fasting glucose tests by measuring average blood sugar levels over the past 2–3 months. Certified by NGSP and IFCC, the on-site "mobile lab" brought gold-standard diagnostics directly to the community, earning high praise from attendees for its efficiency and educational support.
Challenbio Secures Tens of Millions of RMB in Series C+ Funding

Beijing Challen Biotechnology Co., Ltd. announced on July 27 the completion of its Series C+ financing round, led by Beiyang Haitang Fund. This new funding will accelerate the company's R&D and market expansion in IVD diagnostic instruments, reagents, and biomedical research equipment. The round follows another multi-million RMB financing closed just four months earlier in April 2026.
Founded in March 2020, Challenbio is dedicated to breaking through "bottleneck" technologies in flow cytometry. The company has launched a robust portfolio including the 2-laser 8-color MateCyte, 3-laser 14-color LongCyte, FongCyte series, and the 4-laser FongCyte S, establishing itself as a leader in domestic flow cytometry. Its product lines span clinical instruments (MateCyte, LongCyte, ClinStellar) and reagents for cytokines, lymphocyte subsets, platelets, and HLA-DR, alongside research-grade systems like FongCyte, ElaraCyte, and CytoStellar series.
