Sysmex and Qiagen's Japanese subsidiary said Tuesday that they have expanded their longstanding partnership to include the distribution of clinical diagnostic products for infectious diseases and cancer in Japan.
Under the terms of the arrangement, Sysmex will exclusively distribute Qiagen's infectious disease and oncology clinical diagnostic instruments, reagents, and other products in Japan, beginning with cancer molecular diagnostics and a tuberculosis test.
The companies will also work to promote the products' introduction in Japanese medical institutions and testing centers, while collaborating on the sale of infectious disease products.
Financial and other terms were not disclosed.
Kobe, Japan-based Sysmex and Qiagen, which is headquartered in the Netherlands, have been working together since 2013, and in 2021 they formed an alliance to develop and commercialize companion diagnostics using Sysmex's sequencing technology. Last year, the companies deepened their partnership to include R&D, production, clinical development, and sales and marketing of genetic testing products.
