Eurobio Scientific Nabs CE Mark for SARS-CoV-2 Variant Test

Eurobio Scientific said on Thursday that its molecular SARS-CoV-2 test for detecting viral variants has received CE marking.

The PCR-based screening assay, called EBX 048 Eurobioplex SARS-CoV-2 Fast-SVT, can simultaneously determine the presence of Omicron BA1, Omicron BA2, and Delta variants in 45 minutes. It detects the K417N, V213G, and L452R mutations of the virus, which are linked to Omicron and Delta sub-lineages. The presence of the V213G mutation allows the BA2 variant to be differentiated from the other Omicron variant, the Paris-based firm said in a statement. 

The test is available in multiple versions that allow 50, 100, or 200 samples to be run simultaneously. It is immediately available to hospital and private laboratories in France and internationally where the CE mark is recognized, the company said.

Eurobio Scientific previously received CE marking in 2020 for its EBX 042 FluCoSyn multiplex test for SARS-CoV-2, influenza A and B, and respiratory syncytial virus.
